Index Number: 11181 Hi, Well, just when ya' thought it was safe to go back into the computer, "here I am, back again!!! Me and my guide puppy mutt just got back home yesterday, and already, we are really cooking around Sacramento on our first day home. I was not the only hearing impaired blind person in class when I got there, but I was when graduation came. (Oh, the other person had to leave the class for health reasons other than his hearing loss, which was not as bad as my own.) So, all my "gadgets" got me through! My respiratory prblems however, did give me some really bad days now and then though. But there was a lot of stress and things. But, hey you know what? Your Vixen made it!!! I did it!!! I love my puppy person just so much already! Did ya' all miss me? I sure missed all you guys!!!! Keepin' the faith! . Index Number: 11339 Hi, Well, I think it all goes to show what I said before I left, whoever has a good or bad experience at "any" school will formulate their personal opinion of that school based on their experience. Unless, they are able to be objective (which is hard in this situation) and see that the "problem" lies elsewhere. I cannot speak on Gails experience with the school I went to for my dog but I would agree with you that a "positive" attitude is a definite must because "things" can seem tough at times or not fun. Speaking based on my experience, I have a wonderful dog, the instructors were excellent and I must say that I feel I have had my feet thoroughly grounded in the basics and that I am armed with a good bag of tricks to deal with possible problems situations. On the other hand, I am sure that now and then, the "person to dog" match up doesn't work out. But you said it, attitude seems the key to it all. I know that is what I had to work at keeping, a good and positive attitude, even when seems didn't look so rosy! So far, Toby and I are doing wonderfully. Keepin' the faith! . Index Number: 11516 Hi Julie, Well, thanks for the kind words, Toby and I really glad to be back as you know. Actually, if Toby was homesick for the school and the other dogs, he really didn't show very much of it. He seems to be very adaptable. I suspect that might be because he just loves people in general so much and seems comfortable just about anywhere. Yes, Toby was raised during his first year by a Four H family, where he learned to be around lots of children and people and was taught some of his social skills. My Four H family came to our graduation and they are a sizeable and very very nice bunch of people. Lots of love in their family and it is evidenced in Tobys disposition! I think the Four H puppy raisers are just doing a wonderful thing! Probably much more wonderful then they even know! Keepin' the faith! . Index Number: 11754 Hi Gary, Well, I would have to say that I agree with your contention that our dogs reflect the personalities of those whose raised them as pups. The love and togetherness that was so plainly visible within my 4-H family is very much evident in Toby who is affectionate and playful and a very happy creature. Keepin' the faith! .
