Index Number: 11559 I'm working with an elderly women who is a stroke victim. Due to the stroke, she is Aphasic (unable to mentally retrieve the words she wants), she also has motor disabilities which makes the physical task of speaking difficult. She also has no use of her right hand. Until the therapy to restore her speech ability makes further progress, we thought that providing her with some type of computer device with single switch operation might be useful. So far, the best software I found is Words+ Equalizer which lets the user compose/edit text with single switch operation. But, the concern is that since her disability limits her ability to determine the words she needs, this software may not be too effective. Probably the ideal solution would be something like this Equalizer that was picture based instead of text. If you know of anything, or wish to discuss any related issues, please feel free to reply, or to call me at 718/263-2263 (eve's).
