Jim, I don't belive you have indicated how old your daughter is.
Read closely the comments of the users of various speech packages.  You will 
hear good and bad about different programs that are available.
For me, I run Artic (2.10) and find it most acceptable.

If you have not subxcribed already, I strongly  encourage you to
start receiving TACTIC.  It is now available in largeprint and
braille. Braille is $10 and Largeprint is $16 annually.  Published
quarterly, this mag is an excellent resource on adaptive technology
and has a lot of information about software being run by blind and
visually impaired people.  To subscribe, send a check to Clovernook

When time permits, I try to write an article for Deborah Kendrick (the editor) 
and she's even published a few.

Well it is supposed to be released around the end of November. If it is
