Hi,

When I take my hearing aids out of my ears, I often don't turn them
off until I have them out.

Since I cannot hear them feeding back after they are out, I
sometimes set them down with one squealing which drives my rooma
mate nutty at times.

Now, my ALD is hooked into my right hearing aid semi permanently
(meaning it's a hassle to unhook the ALD from it) and
occassionally, my right hearing aid will fall to below my waist
dangling from the ALD wire.

One day, I was playing with Toby (my guide mutt) and he was acting
really starnge. He kept moving his head in all these funny motions
and even went to the floor and kind of put his paws on his head. I
Just could'nt figure out what was wrong.

It turned out that just then my room mate came home and she let me
know that my right hearing aid, dangling from my waist was
squealing and feeding back like crazy!

Well, friends, I am here to tell you, that my doggie does not all
like hearing aid feedback! He sure was one happy puppy when I
turned that hearing aid off!!!

Keepin' the faith!

. Vixen

Hi Vix. Toby is among the majority of his canine cousins if he finds
hearing aid feedback offensive. I've heard of doggies, and even cats,
attacking and chewing the offending hearing aids. This can happen
even when the frequency of the feedback signal is above "normal"
human hearing range.

I can't hear the feedback of my aids if I leave them turned on when
they are not in my ear. But my "S.O." can hear them 50 feet away.
Some people recommend removing the batteries when you take them out.
That's probably a good idea, but a bit of a nuisance.

Just be sure Toby understands the difference between hearing aids
and Milk Bones.

Jack.
