It is copied from the SKYDIVE echo, which I moderate. * Original to Skydive @ 1:233/15.0 * Forwarded 16 Nov 90 07:10:35 by Hector Mandel @ 1:233/15.0 I made a baloon jump about two years ago. It deffinitely ranks in the top ten jumps I have ever made. Three skydivers and the baloon pilot went up in the Iron City Golden Lager baloon. We got to fourty five hundred feet in no more than five minutes. I exited first, feet out, facing out, and rolled forward. It was definitely the most exciting exit I have ever done. I went out feet low, from this possition, and immediately spun to very head low even with arms extended and legs tucked. It was a very uncontroled feeling, but extremely exciting. Being able to hear everything everything before the wind noise picked up was pretty wild. Some funny related stories. The pilot was out at the drop zone that day because he was making his first jump. He was a bit strung out, as people get after making there first jump, and was pretty nervous because he had never taken up jumpers before. He was appearently pretty freeked out that I was the first person to jump. He said, "I don't f**king believe I just let a blind guy jump out of my baloon". I landed on the DZ no problem, and waited for my friends to land. When we were walking back to the clubhouse a police car pulled up to us and the cop said, "we got a few phone calls from people saying that there is a baloon crashing and bodies are falling out of it", ofcourse we cheerfully told him that that was us. If you ever get the chance to jump a baloon, do! it!
