DK> reader over here this next week. hope you and your new dog are
DK> getting along. i am really thrilled with my yellow lab
DK> drummer. he's very calm and loves his work. he is adjusting
DK> very well to his new enviornment.

Dan,
So, you got a yellow lab, 'eh?
Likewise, Lee, aka Bad, Bad LeeRoy Lab, is ajusting very well to his
new home, but calm isn't exactly the word I would use to describe him!
This dog is CRAZY! He still loves to dance, and being only 17 months
old, he has plenty of energy to do just that, but he is an excellent
worker and I couldn't be happier with him!
By the way, the one thing I noticed about all the dogs is that they
seem to be better at traffic checking than the older models. When I
questioned my trainer on this she informed me that this is the one thing
the various guide dog schools in this country have worked together on in
developing, and I think the benefits are obvious. I almost had to give
CPR to a bystander who witnessed one of the traffic checks imposed upon
me by the Seeing Eye van, as my trainer said that when he saw the van
race into the driveway Lee and I were crossing he clutched his chest in
anticipation of an inevitable disaster. Needless to say, LeeRoy hit his
brakes and back stepped just in time, but I hope Seeing Eye has
insurance that covers heart attack victims as a result of their traffic
checks.
Glad to see you got a good one as well, and someday we'll have to
get together so LeeRoy can dance to your Drummer!
                                                Willie

... Even if you're not the lead dog, the view can be interesting!
