For Pat Shirley:

A visit to the chiropractor 4 yrs ago resolved both a back problem
and banished my long-standing migraines. As part of the treatment,
a special sleeping pillow was prescribed ($35.00). A cheaper
version (Head Nest) was useless.

Migraines are also food related. Migraines toward the front of the
head are frequently associated with sweets, for example.

In the bad old days, relief was often obtained by the following
routine: 1) Lie down in quiet room with very hot water bottle at
sock feet and crushed ice wrapped around head. Ice MUST be in two
thin plastic bags such as are used at produce counters. Thick
plastic--such as shopping bag plastic, or commercial headache ice
bags will NOT work! 2) Wrap up in preferably MOHAIR or if not
available, real WOOL blanket. Synthetics just don't cut it.
FLANNEL is also good--thick, blanket weight flannel. 3) After at
least 30 minutes, you should now be able to carefully make your way
to the shower. Wash your hair as vigorously as possible.

This usually worked 9 1/2 out of 10 times.

During the winter, if no time for a lie down, I would get out in
cold air and do calesthenics or run for 10 minutes. This was also
good for instant banishment of the first intimations of a
migraine.

Though I have not had any migraines since the chiro visit, I also
gave up coffee Sept 1st. My husband, who NEVER gets a headache,
had an excruciating all day migraine when he gave up his 2 cups a
day. I had NONE but felt like the wreck of the Hesperus for 24
hrs. and could not drag myself upright or even do light reading.

I would urge a migraine sufferer who has not been helped by
allopathic medicine to visit a macrobiotic counselor for an
assessment of food implications.

Trust this is of interest. SEC
