Index Number: 11441 [This is from the Silent Talk Conference] Have any of you read the new book by Henry Kisor called "What's That Pig Outdoors? - A Memoir of Deafness?" There is an excellent review of the book by Marjorie Boone in the September/October 1990 issue of Shhh Journal as well as a personal interview with Henry. I've yet to read this book but hope to purchase the hard back copy very soon. I was informed by my mother today that Henry was interviewed on the radio Friday. She was most impressed with his comments on deafness. Comments, anyone? -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!385!14.0!Ann.Stalnaker Internet: Ann.Stalnaker@p0.f14.n385.z1.fidonet.org

(Copies of the review available on request.) For anyone interested in deafness, the book is very much worth reading. I am not sure how controversial it may have been in the deaf culture, but it does show what can be accomplished by a deaf person with speech and lipreading and without sign language.
