Two Soviet cosmonauts were launched into orbit today aboard a new Soyuz T-5 rocket. They are to dock with the new Salyut-7 space station, launched on 20 April, and prepare it for a soon-to-come joint Soviet-French mission to that space station. No word has come on when the docking will be attempted, but American space officials say that they usually occur one day after launch. The Soviet cosmonauts will perform scientific experiments aboard the space station, or the now empty Salyut-6 if it is used as a backup, during their stint there.
