I started it a long time ago. At that time, I believe some one
else was teaching it. The only thing that I can tell you is to
take your time, and check every detail.

I think that most of my problems were carelessness.

I know at least two people who have started it twice, and have not
finished it. They both are very good braille users, one of whom
has writen a brille text book for adults learning braille. It is
aparently pretty tough and they require high quality work. Good
luck!

Hi Linda,

Well, I'll take each question as it comes, ok?

>"I agree with you--the world of academe is connected in all
>"subjects. Do you tutor for a school or privately with students
>"getting your name through other students?

The answer to this is both. I have been listed with several districts for a
while now, I am also a vendor for the Commission for the Blind. I also take
private students. All these avenues are scharce.

>"Do you think that is
>"a good profession for a blind person?

Yes, it is. You work for yourself and make your own hours.

>"How long have you been tutoring?

About twelve years now is the answer to this one. <grin>

>"Is it a steady job?

No, it most deffinitely ain't.

>"Sorry,
>"don't mean to bombard you with questions, but I'm open to any
>"new idea that might lead to employment.

Don't appologize. Yes, it does bring in pin money. So, go for it.

>"Take care!

You too, see ya on-line.

Well, Ann, I'm not very surprised at what you described as being
educational inadequacies of today. I see so many sharp blind
people with no jobs, and some real not-so-bright sighted people
attempting to do something they have no training for. I just
worked on a document that had so many typos. I spent more time
correcting typing errors than really the document. Luckily, I
had a friend help me with it, but it does confirm there
definitely is discrimination out there. Hdy, do you know the
way to San Jose? (Grin)
Take care,
Linda
