Thanks for the numbers I'll check them out tomorrow. Our listeners are
looking for alittle more variety than in-touch provides. I think the
variety of books and In-Touch would satisify ppeople if we could just
get it up and runing. I still don't have enough budget to expand my
local broadcasting and from the looks of the budget process it is going
to be tighter this coming year. Well so it is with budgets. I'll be
soglad when the first of the year comes and the budget process in our
operation will be finished for another nine months. Grant

Grant,
You mentioned you liked the MN Reading Service because of the
fact they read books.

Now this is a topic that I get upset about. I personally
am against a radio reading service reading books on the air. There just
are too many magazines and other publications that we should have the
opportunity to hear. Sure NLS delays our reading the best
sellers by a few months, but I don't think that's too long to wait.
I say keep the books, NPR programming, drama and simulcast of main
channel off the SCA.

Hope you had a nice Turkey Day and I'll chat at ya soon.

My personal thoughts are along your lines, Steve that is why I
brought in INTOUCH and thought it would be a success. However
we have many listeners who would prefer the books. I don'thave
a problem with it but when I came to this reading service many
of the books being read were already in the library. {The tape
exchange though used tohavea lot of good programs that the
listeners really liked. The name ofthe program doesn't come to
me at the moment but they sent out one done by a guy who read
humorous writings that was just great. The name of it will come
to me when I get off here. Anyway there were others like a
cooking program that the Kansas Service produced that was
excellent. I'd like to see these types of programs nationally
distributed via sattelite. The Association performed a great
service. It is a shame that they could not find the funding to
put up a sattelite link and distribute directly.

Steve those are my thoughts also. I have given in to the fact if it
is not in recorded form and there is nothing else anyone wants to
hear, then o k. I personally don't care to listen to books on the
air. It looks like we are outnumbered though, so I guess they will
keep on reading them.

               Walter
