Index Number: 12664 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Version 0.26 of Tinytalk is now available. This version adds support for the Dectalk and the Audapter and fixes a problem in the Porttalk version. The Echo and Accent versions should be a bit more tolerant of sloppy cabling (the previous versions would lock up on some machines if the serial cable didn't have some handshake lines wired). Other than that, there are no new features. For all you newcomers, Tinytalk is a screen reader program that takes up only 16K but offers lots of advanced features like automatic pop-up window reading, automatic configuration switching, comprehensive window monitoring and much more. It's presently in an experimental state (i.e. I'm looking for people to find the lurking bugs!) and is expected to go into final release early next year. There will be both a shareware ("Tinytalk Personal"; basically the fully-debugged equivalent of the current experimental release with a few more features) and commercial ("Tinytalk Professional" with: add-in modules for dictionary creation, keyboard remapping and labeling, advanced text reading and more; predefined configurations for major applications; possible multitasker support; and whatever else I decide to throw in) version, both at extremely reasonable prices. The current release supports the following synthesizers: Echo GP/PC Accent (all models) Artic (using PortTalk) anything else that uses PortTalk or has a compatible interface, including the Soundingboard Dectalk ASP board from Automated Functions Audapter TTALK026.ZIP is available for download (first-time callers OK) and file request (points OK) from the COPH-2 BBS (115/778, (312)286-0608) all hours except ZMH. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!115!778.1!Eric.Bohlman Internet: Eric.Bohlman@p1.f778.n115.z1.fidonet.org
