It writes to the screen, and you have to read the screen by going down a line at a time instead of it automatically talking to you. I am a long time genie user, and I downloaded Aladdin because they touted it as being for everyone, but I guess that they forgot that there are persons who are disabled. Strange sence they have a disabilities board, or section. One would think that they would be aware of the fact that there are disabled persons using there network. I did leave them a letter about the problems with Aladdin, it will be interesting to see what they say. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!119!5.0!Danny.Keys Internet: Danny.Keys@p0.f5.n119.z1.fidonet.org

I have windows set to read messages when I use the right arrow. Page down reads the next pages if the message is longer than one page. When replying the system has line wrap and control right and left move one word and speak very well. I have sent you a message on GENIE. Yep, and that is what I am doing now. It sure would have been nice not to have to look for what lines to monitor, but I had to give in and do just that. I don't know if you have ever been on Genie, but I am not sure I want to stay on there. Maybe after I learn my way around, but I am still lost on there. When you first down load the system it is set to get all the messages from ALADDIN and IBM. This is very bad because the IBM area is not a STAR Service. Yes, it would cost a little money if you leave the defaults. You need to use F6 and update the pass 1 options to spaces. The only area I get all the messages from is the Disability round table. After you get ALADDIN setup it is very nice. I got your message on GENIE and sent you a reply. Then memorize the commands you might use most frequently (of which there are only a very few) then go into expert mode, without menus. I've found out that helps a great deal. If you like, you can leave me a note if you need any help. The address is: o.sosa1. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!130!10!Oscar.Sosa Internet: Oscar.Sosa@f10.n130.z1.fidonet.org

Well, I have removed the IBM rt from my aladdin, and have fixed the aladdin so it does not go way back, I put the genie rt in it's place. I haven't been back on yet, because now I am trying to read what I have. I had to quit last night, and so it will be a mess when I go back to reading since aladdin does not keep track what I read, since I had to exit it. I don't like this feature. I don't know if I am going to keep genie after this month, because I just don't have time to read that many messages at one time after I finish reading my messages from the fido echoes. I just don't know if it will be worth it to me. I have to the 9th of next month to make up my mind. TB> I need to read graphic symbols to determine the action of the key. I found out that last night. I have a local fellow helping me, and he showed me about those graphic symbols. With jaws, you can read the asci code for the symbol, and I can with the jaws dictionary, make those symbols say what I want. TB> Yes, I down loaded the ALADDIN manual. It is an option on the TB> ALADDIN roundtable menu. Just type alad TB> at a GENIE prompt then pick the options to down load the documentation. I also now have my aladdin configured to download the manual the next time I log on to genie which will be sometime today.
