Hi there. I imagine fourteen people have already answered this one, but I
will give it a shot, anyway just in case.  <grin>

For starters, it really helps 'round here when you ask for help if you let
us know what synthesizer and what screen reader you're using. I suspect
from what you've said that you're using an Artic 200 or Votalker card,
though.  What you have seen happen is 'normal' for those synthesizers on
machines faster than 8 or 9 mhz-- most AT 286 and 386 machines, in other
words.

Unfortunately, both of these synthesizers were designed for XT machines and
just don't work properly on the faster computers.  Sometimes they do..
sometimes they don't, as you have seen. I have also noticed that as time
goes on, they work less and less often. Comforting, huh?

I had a Votalker in a 9mhz <zzzzzz> 286 for a year until that made me so
crazy I got a new synthesizer.

hello and thanks. you wre right on the money about my at and speech. 
the equipt was a synphonics 200 but with softvert program. i do not plan 
to get a new synthacizor its just inconvient at times  especially when 
you are in a hurry.  ha ha.  no just so its not doing damage is all i 
was worried about. glad to make your acquantance and thanks again.
