One reason why I haven't ben on is that I have been extemely busy working and looking at new computers! Yes, I'm buying a 286 system with a 40-meg hard drive 1.44 meg floppy drive and a meg of ram. Anyway, I've found a good deal on this system and will pay under $1,000 for it. Now, I KNOW that there will be some argument on my next purchase. I've decided to buy the Braille'n'Speak to use as a synthesizer for the 286. Although it isn't the best synthe out there, I like the fact that I can either hook it to the desktop or use it while I'm away from the office for note taking. I love the portability of the device. Looking forward to getting my new set-up. Take care. Liz -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!130!33.0!Liz.Campbell Internet: Liz.Campbell@p0.f33.n130.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 11601 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Great choice on Braille 'n Speak its a great device. They are a little slow on their updating time though. I'm under a maintainance agreement and was supposed to go out on a list to get the latest update. Well, Its going to be November and still using the 1989 version and I pay $100.00 a year. This is actually to all and if anyone else is experiencing this we should get them to live up to what they say about their updating under maintainance agreements. I seem to have been forgotten about. I guess I'm going to have to call Blazie Engineering again!!. 73 -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!300!7!Darrell.Shandrow Internet: Darrell.Shandrow@f7.n300.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 13256 > I really didn't realize just how much difference it made! I don't >guess we ever do, until we have the opportunity to work on something >faster. I can really tell the difference when I'm using my speech recognition system. It is a real labor intensive program and when I run it on a slower machine I can really tell that the system is grinding away. It requires a 386 machine because some of the code was written in 386 assembly language. Even with them using assembly language for faster execution I can tell the difference when I go from one machine to a slower or faster system.
