For those who might be interested in seeing ASL interpreted
theater in the Chicago area, there are two interpreted performances of
David Mamet's American Buffalo, on Sunday February 17 at 3pm and
Sunday, March 3 at 7pm at the Remains Theater, 1800 N. Clybourn
in Chicago. The box office nbr is 312-335-9800 (voice), and if you
are a TDD user you can call them through the Illinois Relay Center
at 800-526-0857. Tickets are $10 general admission only, but they
will reserve seats for hearing impaired persons within sightline of
the interpreters. The box office hours are Mon 10am-5pm, Tues-Fri 10am-8pm,
Sat 10am-9pm, and Sun 12pm-7pm.

I attended an interpreted performance of the play within the last few
days. Although I am just beginning to learn ASL so can not comment a lot
on the interpretation, one of my friends I went with is hearing impaired
and thought the interpreters were excellent. Both of us had read the play
ahead of time so could compare the text to the vocal performance and the
interpretation. Check it out. At $10, this is one fine bargain in
live drama.
