SB> Don, I along with a computer guy installed SmartTerm 320
SB> yesterday. Igot the speech side working, but not like I need it
SB> to. After calling the Tech support, they told us to try a
SB> couple of things, but to no help. I am waiting on a call back
SB> from them next week with the names and numbers of two people
SB> that are using Artic with this program. Maybe I can talk with
SB> them and see how they have their system set up and see if I can
SB> get it working better. Some screens talk, while others don't.
SB> You can always read the current line, so who knows. Will keep
 SB> you posted.

 SB> Steve/

Hi Steve; Well with a program like smartterm, you wouldn't really
want it to go through the bios and talk all the time. The main
thing is that you should be able to navigate from field to field
without confusion. If there are areas of the screen you want to
read quickly you should then make windows to read them. I did not
realize that you were going to use artic when you originally asked
about smartterm. I haven't done a smartterm install with artic.I
personally feel that artic can limit you and be a bit awkward but
keep me posted. Thanks.

SB> Making windows is no problem, but I'm not getting it to read
SB> prompts like "WORKING" and "Enter Selection". These aren't
SB> necessary, but helpful to know the system is doing something.

SB> I'll keep working at it and maybe with the upgrade to 3.0 (I've
SB> got toorder that one of these days), things will work better.

 SB> Steve

Well Steve I haven't received my copy of artic 3.0 yet, but youhave hit
on one of the reasons I don't like 2.1.
It doesn't allow you to perform screen monitoring.
I think that problem at least will be solved with 3.0.

Don, I talked with Artic yesterday on a matter and they said that 3.0
has some bugs that they are working on. They are already saying that
3.1 will probably be released around March 1st. I have not ordered
myupgarde yet but now may wait.

The people at SmartTerm (or actually PerSoft) are going to work with
me to see what they can do about screen writing. They are sure
interested and willing to help out.

Steve
