The next meeting of VIBUG (Visually Impaired and Blind User
Group) will be held on Saturday, August 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. at
National Braille Press--located at 88 Saint Stephen St. in Boston
(phone 266-6160).

Hank Krejci of HFK Software will demonstrate the QWERTY
Checkbook Manager, designed to make checkbook management easy to
do and friendly with speech output. Deposits and checks can be
entered against multiple accounts. Features include online help,
check printing, and transaction statements. Hank will also show
us some other software utilities he has developed recently.
Demonstration copies of the software will be available at the
meeting.

Gil Busch, VIBUG publications chair, has been recording the
demonstrations at our meetings and making them available on
cassette. Several demos are now available. The cost is five
dollars a piece, which is revenue for VIBUG. Contact Gil at
National Braille Press during the day or at any VIBUG meeting.

The next meeting of VIBUG (Visually Impaired and Blind User
Group) will be held on Saturday, September 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at
National Braille Press--located at 88 Saint Stephen St. in Boston
(phone 266-6160).

Matthew Chao of Talking Computer Systems will demonstrate
the Braille Blazer: a new braille printer distinguished for its
affordability and friendliness. At nearly half the price of the
nearest competitor, Blazie Engineering has introduced perhaps
the first personally affordable braille printer. A built-in
speech synthesizer (the same as that in the Braille 'N' Speak)
makes operating the printer easy through a voice interactive
control panel. The synthesizer can in fact double as the voice
of a screen reader program. With the Braille Blazer connected to
a laptop computer, Matthew will illustrate the concept of an
adaptive, portable work station.
