Hi Earl, PCA are a whole different catagory than hospice or VNA.
Basically most states do not haven organization that sends out,
checks and trains PCAs to the extent that the VNA or Hospice
organizations doMost Indepnt Living Center try and find people that
that are intresd in being PCAs (all though from what I've encountered
not vigorously) and a list of people that are looking for PCAs. BVR and
some of the other Rehab systems will help pay for part of the cost.
Mostly one has to find a PCA on their own. Right now the Fedral
government onlyllows $4 an hour to be written off on your income tax
under medic and puts a maximum per week. I have to dig that out to find
thspecifics. Frank Whitney may know off hand. What I find crazy is that
even private insurances are more willing to put y in a nursing h
home and pay for it than to y for a PCA wich would cost them way less.
