Hi Betty, I love your style with the story of the department store.
I too notice that I have a tendency in those situations to complain to
anyone unfortunate to be near me, plus I continue to mumble and curse to
under my breath for quite a long period of time. Sometimes even after I
have managed to make it out of the fool store. I'm sure at times like
that I do a lot to impart a negative image of disabled people. I'm sure
anyone near me at those times thinks I'm a raving lunatic.
You must have done a terrific job to get them to move the stuff in
the store. I have complained and pleaded with several local merchants
about the aisles and the only one that did something was a bookstore. I
guess they did it out of self preservation also. Last summer I ran into
this massive old table they had trying to turn to get out of the store
and knocked a leg off and dumped a ton of books all over the place.
Luckily none on me. It was a real scene, the place was really crowded
and when the table went people paniced, the doors to the store were
blocked and I just sat there in the middle of the mess trying as best as
I could to look innocent. No one to my relif yelled at me or tryed to
charge me for damaged goods. They just quickly cleared a path so I could
get out of the store.
