Index Number: 13725 1) You can obtain TSR programs that will effectively accellerate your typing by a) letting you call up commonly used words or phrases with one or two keystrokes (you define them) or b) predicting what word or phrase you're about to type on the basis of the first few letters (they then pop up a window with choices, or display the choices on a status line). You can accept one of the choices with a single key, or keep typing on if nothing matches. These TSRs will work with most programs. 2) You can get another type of TSR that pops up a keyboard matrix and lets you use a trackball, joystick or mouse to point at letters (you select one by clicking). These can work in conjunction with the expander programs mentioned above. You can also get programs that let you make selections by scanning, but those probably wouldn't be fast enough for you (they may be the only way to go for some people with very limited motor control). 3) You could use a preamp to bring up the volume on your microphone. I don't know any model numbers, but the things surely exist for the broadcast and recording industry. A fairly cheap solution might be one of those Radio Shack mixers intended for mobile DJs (cost around $120; it will actually do more than you need). Our local cable TV studio uses one to bring up the level of a weak tuner. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!115!778!Eric.Bohlman Internet: Eric.Bohlman@f778.n115.z1.fidonet.org
