Place the pedals and front wheels into the car behind the drivers side seat. Move toward the center of the seat. Fold drivers seat down somewhat if possible. Grip the pedals and pull the chair into the car. If there is a hump the small wheels should stradle the hump. Lock the brakes. Hope this helps. -=joe=- -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!150!140!Joe.Chamberlain Internet: Joe.Chamberlain@f140.n150.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 12736 [This is from the Spinal Injury Conference] Joe, Do you leave the brakes on throughout the loading or do you put them on after the chair is in the car. I'm currently looking at the Ford Thunderbird or Mercury Cougar. I have looked at others and most of them are front-wheel drive reducing the hump. However, the Cadillac is too expensive, the Buick LeSabre (also the Olds 88) do not come with an airbab on a 2-door model. The Tbird doesn't either but its not as expensive as the others. Thanks. If you have any other suggestions, let me know. Jay -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!150!140!Jay.Schlink Internet: Jay.Schlink@f140.n150.z1.fidonet.org

It prevents it rolling around in the back, but in many cars this is not a problem. -=joe=- -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!150!140!Joe.Chamberlain Internet: Joe.Chamberlain@f140.n150.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 13782 [This is from the Spinal Injury Conference] Joe, I tried a few methods for loading the wheelchair into the car and your method turned out to be the best one for me. I now have decided to try and wait until the 1992 models come out. The full size Buick and Olds don't have an airbag in them and I figure it would be worth my wait for one. Thanks.
