[misc.handicap] Vans

I am considering buying a used van and then having a wheelchair lift
installed. Does anyone have any advice as to types, brand,
reliability, etc. of lifts or information about which vans are best to
convert? I have the impression that a used standard van may be had
more cheaply than a mini-van, but I am not ruling out either.

Alternatively, are there any listings of used already-converted vans for sale?

Over the next four months, I plan on purchasing a van that
needs to be outfitted for me to drive and a lift mounted for me to
get my wheelchair in. Now I have a van or two in mind, but I would
like some input on what some others like and why. Also the OVR office
in my area has said in the past that they will not outfit mini vans
which is what I'd like to get (either a caravan or astro) and I'd
like to know if that has been a problem in other areas or if there
is a way around them if it's still a problem here.{
Any suggestions or comments would greatly appreciated.

Tom

A guy I was in the hospital with got a mini van. It realy slick. It all
pimped out. it has a lift to get him in the he hits a button and the
driver seat slides out he hops on it, hits a button and the rapm folds
up and he hits another button and the seat slides back in place. all
with a set of button (switches) above the drivers seat and another set
by the side door. and a few out side the van neer the back so he can
open it up from outside. He was going to get a remote control to open
it up. (cool stuf) I don't have his number, he calls me every now and
then. He moved to go to school. Vocational rehab helped him out with it
I think. but it's a mini van.
