A robot called SCARAB, for Submersible Craft Assisting Repair and Burial will be sent out from Baltimore today to the UTC Freedom off the coast of Cape Canaveral to help in the recovery of the recorder aboard one of the Columbia's sunken SRB's. It will arrive Thursday or Friday. From there, it will be sent down and commanded from the ship to pick up the recorder, like a plane's black box, and bring it back. NASA hopes the recorder will help determine the exact cause od the sinking of the boosters.
