Index Number: 14055 I thought I'd pass along word of "The Survival Revival Revue", an innovative one-woman show that provides first-person insights into the experience of disability and the healing process. I've met Ms Leigh and seen videotaped excerpts of the show, and think it would be of interest to those on this list. I've taken extracts from the show's promotional literature, but blame ME for any editing mistakes: "The Survival Revival Revue is on a roll !! ... The production, an original one-woman show, is the distillation of Ms Barbara Leigh's intensive experience of the healing process" following partial paralysis in a 1987 auto accident. "Whimsical, farcical and factual, the 60-minute production combines a realism of character and story with the stylization of vaudeville, musical comedy and puppetry, opening it to people of all ages. A talk-back follows, inviting audience members to ask questions and to share reactions and insights" The production is a collaboration between Ms Leigh, an actress/mime and co-founder of Friends Mime Theater, and Mike Moynihan (co-founder), with Jerome Lerner (Medical Director of Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Hospital), Debbie Anderson, Jenny Lerner, Diane Johnson and Christine Cedarsburg (directors). Ms Leigh has worked as actress, director, PR director, singer, writer, designer, mask and prop artisan, administrator and playwright. With a degree in French Theatre, she has studied in London and Paris, with workshops in Marcel Marceau's School and that of Etiene Decroux. She has been involved in the creation of over 50 original theater and video plays, and tours and presents workshops on acting and ensemble creation throughout the US and Canada. The Survival Revival Revue is one of several Outreach/Touring productions of Friends Mime Theatre. For more information, contact Friends Mime Theatre, PO Box 92127, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202.
