Sorry that I was wrong on the amount of RAM available. It should have
been 460K rather than 471K. I hope that the information that I gave
you helps Tom.

You need to have QEMM installed so that the RAM option is loaded in
your friends config.sys file where the device driver for QEMM is
installed. You have plenty of memory available. You don't try to
load the whole thing into high memory. You want to loadhi dragon30
into high memory and several other device drivers. What I'm going to
do is to try and import my config.sys file to give you a better idea
of what things should look like. It will be in another message since
I have to change locations. What version of QEMM does your friend
have? If it has the optimize function it should do everything
automatically.
Frank.

The notation might not be quite correct but it should be similar. If
you read the QEMM manual it should look very similar where I have the
loadhi notation.

[Note from Bill McGarry: I'll leave this one for Frank
 Whitney.]

Hello, Bill!

I was recently asked a few questions concerning the Dragon Dictate that
I was not qualified to answer. I am hoping you will either have the
information or can refer me to someone who does!

1.) How many users can a Dragon system accommodate?
2.) Can the Dragon be installed/utilized via a mainframe/network with
    a site license?
3.) Are there Dragons currently being used in academic computer labs
    by disabled students?

Ball State University is considering the purchase of a Dragon Dictate
for use by the mobility impaired population. As a visually impaired
computer user, I realize what an advantage access to computer technology
can offer. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Leah

At UCLA we have the Dragon Dictate available in a public access
setting. Students, faculty or staff with disabilities can use Dragon
Dictate (or a range of other assistive technologies). It's a little
early for us to tell how well Dragon will work out in the long run since
we have not had long term users. But several people with orthopedic
disability have used it to write letters and reports.

Dragon can only by used by one person at a time, on a stand-alone
microcomputer (must be a 386 MS-DOS machine with 6, preferably 8
megabytes of RAM). Each user loads his/her own voice file.

Please contact me if you'd like more info.

I tried Dragon Dictate. It cannot recognize an articulate whisper.
Because of cerebral palsy which affects my voice strengt that is
my limitation. Can you think of a way to use an amplifier in
combination with Dragon Dictate? Any ideas?
