[This is from the Silent Talk Conference]

You are correct that many deaf do not keep to ourselves. I am not sure
which post you are responding to, but we deafies do have a very rich
life contrary to popular belief. We have clubs, sports events, activities
that do involve hearies and a lot of other things I can't even begin
to mention as they are so numerous. Interesting enough is that the
oral deaf who fault we Cultural Deafies for being sort of Deaf clanish
engage in the very activity they accuse us of. You have the Alexander
Graham Bell Association and SHHH. Among others to be sure. These are
primarily oral deaf people who have formed an association to association
with other oral deaf people. This is the greatest proof that Deafies
do what any people will do whether they are hearies of certain cultural
backgrounds like Jews, Irish etc. Birds of a feather flock together.
It is only natural to feel most comfortable with your own kind.
