I will pass this message to her. At the moment she does not have a
computer. As a young lady she will have a bright future. Just that
success is 99% of hard work. The purpose of HcUG was to develop the
survival kind of attitude in disabled. We recently had a one day
seminar. There was discussion on Chinese Desktop publishing, Fax card
for computer and demostration on the Headmaster on the Macintosh. In
true spirit of HcUGGIng the meeting demostrated what learning should
be and what can be done to improve educational services for the
disabled.
We are trying our best to get disabed back to college, school,
etc.
   Merry Christmas......

Regards: T.K. Kang, Sysop of HcUG BBS

Hi Isaac! Good to hear from you again. I am using Procomm Plus on my
computer at home and really like it. While I have fiddled with Telix
and I know there are may advocates for that fine program, I haven't used
Telix enough to make a fair comparison. At school we use Procomm 2.4.2
and the telecom program that comes in Microsoft Works. I have used both
extensively, and Procomm wins hands down. We just got in a Navigator
and as soon as I have it hooked up, I am going to be very interested to
see how it interacts with Procomm. Will let you know. We have been
using Procomm with VertPlus and Speaqualizer speech and it works with
both very satisfactorily.

Your hassles with school sound like the typical bureauocracy game
playing. Really annoying. Looks like you really have to be in the mood
and plan on a fairly long battle to get through it all. Good luck when
you begin your battle! Please keep me posted.

When you are dealing with products for the handicapped, blind,
visually empaired, ETC, sometimes you really don't have a choice
of companies for a specific product. I do agree with you though
ondealing with those companies who don't live up to
expectiononly when necessary or not at all. Grant

The Keybraille looks really neat. I wish I had had some input into the
ordering of some of the equipment. I'm supposed to be the computer
expert, but others are making decisions without asking for my
"expertise." I have been fiddling with the Navigator and it will
certainly be a challenge. It's supposed to have a means by which the
text on the screen is converted to grade two braille (called View 2),
and while I have it loaded through the .bat file, all I'm getting is
grade one braille. Oh well, computers and periperials are well know for
being challenging little beasts, and somehow or another I'll get this
one figured out. Sounds like you are making considerable progress with
your deaf-blind client. I would have to think that computers and
telecommunications will open up all kinds of wonderful things for him!
The traveling sounds terribly expensive, though! And thanks for
offering to message with my kids when they come on line. When we get to
the Echo's portion of my telecom lessons, for sure you'll be hearing
from them. So tell me, what other things have you been doing lately?
And how did the venison taste? Can't say as I have ever had the
pleasure (?) of tasting venison. Is it good?
