I am adding binkly this weekend. ... -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!377!6!Tandy.Way Internet: Tandy.Way@f6.n377.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 13473 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Don't get the idea that any bbs is going to be super easy to set up, because you will find that while most features may be easy on one or another package there will be something that will challenge you, especially as a beginner. However, I usually recommend to a beginner that the may want to try an older version of FIDO BBS such as version 11W. It is easy enough to set up, provides net mail, and echo mail capacity, if you want to be FIDO NET compatable. Once you have your feet on the ground with the basics and are confortable with that system you can make a more intelligent decision about moving on to something more sophisticated, if you want more features, at a later date. If you decide you would like to give that system a try let me know and I can probably supply you with everything you would need to get started. If you have been on Maximus or Opus boards the FIDO menu system will look very similar and a conversion from FIDO to Opus or Max would not be extreemly difficult later. Index Number: 13543 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Dave, I think that Sapphire might also do as a starter board (unless you want to go FidoNet). Btw, does anyone have Maximus? Want to take a look. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!129!90!Gary.Petraccaro Internet: Gary.Petraccaro@f90.n129.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 14171 Dave, That's funny. I'm moving in the opposite direction. I'm looking for a bbs that requires less fiddling <grin>. Mellowing? Hell no. Just getting lazy. It's getting to the point where I'm looking at Sapphire and shying away from both the Quickbbs clones, and the XBBS/Socrates meta-bbs systems. Give me something out of the box <grin>. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!129!90!Gary.Petraccaro Internet: Gary.Petraccaro@f90.n129.z1.fidonet.org
