Jean,

I need your (and anyone else who wants to interject) an opinion
about my current PT treatment.
   (***Very condensed version***)

I recently changed PT places because I didn't like no communication
with the PT. This new place (which I will not mention names since
people from Tyler, TX read this) I have been going to was great...until
recently....I started going February 14, 1991, and I was so happy to be
out of this other place...and the PT was great, and I really liked his
staff. Then, something happened, which created a chain of events and
eventually blew my trust in the PT industry...YES, I KNOW THAT NOT ALL
PT PLACES ARE LIKE THIS!! (disclaimer))

I recently asked a simple question about why my bill jumped
dramatically, and the PT interrogated me, stating that it was NONE OF
MY BUSINESS, and that insurance (P.I.P.) was taking care of
it...Boloney! I have every RIGHT to know where my $$$$$ are
going...P.I.P or NOT! I mentioned this OFF THE RECORD, and then I saw
him walk into the office and get on the girl's case (the one who files
the insurance). So, that was strike one.

(**I was paying $100/day for Ultrasound, heat, massage, and cervical
traction...3x/week/1 month)

I saw Collins the 11th March, and he didn't feel that some things
concerning my treatment were effective...so my prescription was changes
to: CERVICAL TRACTION and SPRAY + STRETCH. And, I questioned as to why
HEAT was given to me when (supposedly the PT, office staff, and
assisstant had not even READ THE PRESCRIPTION) it wasn't on there. The
PT told me that "All doctors assume that you are given heat..." And I
said, "The doctor isn't THERE to do the treatments, etc...so how do you
KNOW THAT?" I also asked if heat was part of the traction price, he
said.."It was separate..." (Which means to me...more $$$ for them!!)
Then I was interrogated by his office staff as to why I wanted to pay
my 20% and go to my health coverage...I stated since I used up half odf
my P.I.P., I had the right. They took my 20%, (check) and I left. I
asked if they were going to file on the P.I.P. also, they said yes.
They were NOT GOING TO SEND IN THE INSURANCE, and that I had no right
to switch inthe middle. They refuse to give me back my 20%.
I had my last appointment with them Tuesday, 19th. I mentioned to
the PT I was tired of their interrogatories...etc. And, just before he
gave me my spray+stretch, he told me that they have "bent over
backwards to please me, and that I was the ONLY one who questioned
their procedures...and he said that I could go elsewhere, if I wanted
to." He left the room, and I turned to get my Keds, and...I saw
something...A TAPE RECORDER. He did this WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, and I
didn't say another word until I called my attorney when I got home. I
felt violated, betrayed, and stripped of my dignity.
  I haven't been back...What's your opinion?

  Thanks, Liz
