It seems to be a trademark of companies that produce equipment for the handicapped that they don't go the extra mile in customer support except for a very few and if you've been reading my messages you know whom I'm referring to ad good and bad in this area. I really don't mind having problems with equipment that is in the cards. What I call good service though came from Compuadd. One computer out of seven gave me a problem with iratic booting. I had it back in twenty four hours and it works fine no hassle no problems. One of the printers didn't work right I took it back and was immediately given another one. Those transactions were taken care of efficiently and cheerfully. One can't ask for more than that. They know this, so why should they go out of there way to be helpful? I'm not saying it's the people being mean, it's probably more like the people start with good intentions, the management becomes lax, and it goes right on down the ladder. It's a real problem with no easy solution. I haven't had to buy much equipment, but I can tell some stories about stuff I have bought. If ya wanta heare a good one, ask me why I won't ever! buy another handi cassette. Later.. It is no doubt tougher to do, takes much more effort, and isn't always easy, but it can be done. Deep down one of the things that bothers me about TSI is the bureaucracy they seem to work under. It appears that they employ many layers of bureaucracy and what bothers me is that they could cut prices or give better support if they weren't so meyered in red tape. In no way am I saying that is the case but it appears that way. It just seems as though they are a company with a lot of administrative extra. I got the Chris, I dropped mine down 4 concrete steps and it still runs fine. About APH's attitude, I agree completely. Do you think the NFB and ACB might be helpful in putting some pressure on the government or, at least, APH to get out a more sturdy unit made by someone who has not gone out of business? This is a serious question. Same question goes for a sturdier talking book which doesn't destroy those flexible disc magazines and which might be portable. How about a dual purpose portable unit.
