BK> I have heard that you could definitely use it as a "speech
BK> box." I don't know if I'll ever have that opportunity, but I
BK> will certainly give it my best shot when and if the opportunity
 BK> ever presents itself.

Bill,
If we are still talking about the Braille 'n Speak, it sure can be
used as a synthesizer for your PC. That is what I used the whole time I
was in Maryland, and although I suspect there will be many here who say
it isn't a good first option for doing so, I found that it met all my
needs quite nicely! In fact, I got very used to it and found that by
turning it off while the board was up and I wasn't using the computer,
when I did want to use speech just turning it back on allowed me to do
so and yet keep the charge in the Braille 'n Speak for several days.
I am anxious to try calling the board with it as well, but I want
to get my speed up on the braille keyboard first. It really is one heck
of a neat gadget though, that I can assure you!
                                                        Willie
