DR> Occasionally, I want to print out in braille a file which
DR> is written in word perfect 5.0. Since the purpose of this is
DR> mostly to proof read, I don't want to go the long way around
DR> by dumping it as ascii and then translating it. So the question
DR> is how do I tell wp5.0 that I want to dump the text out the
 DR> serial
DR> port. Also, obviously there is no printer driver for a braille
DR> embosser in word perfect. So what do I do?

You could do one of two things. You could define a DOS Text printer with
WordPerfect, telling it is is serial, setting up baud rate etc. It would then
print in computer braille out the serial port. The second thing you could do,
at least in a couple weeks, is buy a copy of auto Braille, from KANSYS, Inc. It
is a memory resident braille translator that will capture output from a
specified port, trans late it and send it to your braille printer. The program
is very close to being completed. Should be done in a couple weeks or so.
Chuck tells me it is producing braille now. CAll him at 1-800-279-4880..
