Index Number: 14818 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] DH> I'm wondering if any of you remember the name of the Company DH> that does form-feed checks that have one raised line on them DH> for signature? Delux did the ones in the book that had the lines for all feilds, and I believe they also do the formfeed ones. DH> I'm switching banks, moving out of one where I DH> did most of my banking by touch-tone phone, to one where I'll DH> be using the computer and hoepfully the printer to do my DH> banking. Have you ever heard of or seen Check free? That is the program I use for my home finances; it has a few advantages over the ones that print out the checks for you in that instead of printing them, you just upload the merchant information and the company pays the bill via laser printed checks, or E.F.T. wich ever the merchant being paid will support. A lot like having the auto teller in your front room cause you can set up fixed recurrent payments by week, month, quarterly, simianually or anually, you can also have merchants where you need to pay a different amount, phone etc; all you need do for them is to select them from a menu, enter the date to be paid and the amount, and walah, on that date, they are paid. Fixed deposits are also in there, even if they are not part of your direct accounting. In other words, If you usually get 40 hours, or if you are getting SSDI the fixed regular amount can be set to be recorded each month. This way, the computer can give you a 30 day forecast of your income and expected outgo. It also has cattagory feild for budgeting reports, monthly and anual analysis, along with spreadsheet file format to send to your favorite spreadsheet. The entire program is set around a data base structure so that any record is available up to and beyond three years back; and also with an auto backup routine so data never need be lost. Using inverse video for highliting and also direct screen writes makes it alittle hard to learn, but faster to operate once the hot key menu has become familuar. Nope, I am not a salesman, but one who remember all to clearly the days of calculators, and sheet after sheet of braille paper. Now for the bad news, there is a service charge of $9.95 monthly, and the software costs aprox $20.00 Okay, one more and I am gone, when it is time to reconsile the register, the oldest record is displaid first, and the clear-unclear key is the enter key, and it is a toggle; with auto statement balancing, where you enter your ending balance and the computer compares and shows you if there is a discrepancy, either plus or minus. Multi cattagory listings for those times when one transaction has more than one budget cattagory it was used on like gro groceries, and what if you bought mops and the like, so 75 was spent totally, but 68 was only for groceries, the 75 could go under gro, and then enter msc for misscellainous and enter 7 for the amount, when the budget report is pulled the difference will show. Okay, now I am out of here. Lou--out -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!280!9.0!Louis.Burton Internet: Louis.Burton@p0.f9.n280.z1.fidonet.org
