I have heard of many quads and paras who develop cysts in the cervical
sections of their spinal cords. It is not that unusual. However if
the cyst is causing problems below your injury level such as pain
or decreased sensation then it may be necessary if you want no pain
or more sensation to allow a shunt to be put in. If there is no such
problem I would not allow anyone to do any surgery. If there is, only
you can decide. I can tell you that I know two people who have had
the operation and one saw no change while the other was greatly helped.I
hope that helps a little.
                                                       Wish you well,
                                                         Keith Jones

Scott, I am not a Low-C person but I do have a question for you: Have
you the finances to consider another medical opinion? My brain
operation took place at the University of Texas at Dallas and I find
that University Medical Centers have the best in current research and
top doctors. Do you have a neurologist, neuro-surgeon or M.D.?

          ---Sheila.
