Index Number: 14919 [This is from the Spinal Injury Conference] I am inquiring as to if anyone has tried ACUPUNCTURE for treatment of pain. No, I am not into "new age" medicine. Yet, I am trying to find out about all routes of treatment. Thanks! Liz -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!3801!8!Liz.Petry Internet: Liz.Petry@f8.n3801.z1.fidonet.org

Index Number: 15031 Liz: I have not personally tried acupuncture, but I have a number of friends who have, and they all report good results with one caveat. You need to find a VERY GOOD acupuncturist for this to work. A RN who has taken a quickie course won't do (nothing against RN's). The underlying concepts of acupuncture are quite divergent from Western medical thought. Try to find a good Oriental practitioner, or at least someone who has studied the field years, not months. I ran across a visiting Aussie gent who was quite well versed in the field, so resource persons are where you find 'em. Shop around. W. K. (Bill) Gorman
