Hello Liv,

We in the UK are linked into this echo and will be pleased to share
any experiences with you.

Six years ago I had a cycle accident, had to be carried home, just
round the block so to speak, had two doctors look at me who said I
had only bruised myself. Four weeks later, not being able to walk,
get upstairs to bed, and in constant really bad pain, so that when
I tried to walk my leg and back went into spasms and the pain was
so bad it made me feel faint, some friends took me to hospital, and
after an xray found two hairline fractures of the pelvis. Wow! I
would not like to go through that again, so can appreciate how life
must be for someone who is in constant pain day in day out. My
husband is, but he says he's had it all his life so doesn't know
what its like to be without. So people like you two must be very
brave. I hate pain, toothache is bad enough!

Be pleased to discuss more with you and hope this area will become
popular in the UK. Apparently there are more working hours lost in
the UK for reasons of backpain than any other condition, so lets
hope that a few more will use this echo to discuss their problems
with us.

Regards Sheila

PB> If your in constant chronic pain I may have some

PB> for good let me know I almost have the article on data file so

PB> if you like!!! Peter Baker

 Peter,
I would greatly appreciate any information you have.
In May of '88, I broke my neck at C2, my left collar bone, all my left ribs in
two places each and my right 10th rib.
I had an L5 - S1 Spondo before the accident and needless to say, I made that
worse.
Also, last June, MRI discovered I had a T8 - T9 "impingement" upon the spinal
cord and a disk herniation at T2.
Thus, I would like anything that will aid me in controlling or eliminating
chronic pain.
 Thank you,
 Orville

Hello Peter,

The pain I get is spasmodic and usually get it when the weather is
damp and cold, also when I have any distance to walk, but I would be
interested in the information you have to ease any pain.

My husband who is partially paralysed has constant pain in his limbs
although doctors have said that this shouldn't be the case. What a
lot of nonsense .. If the nervous system is partially damaged, then
some of those signals still get through to nerve ends and the pain
is to tell you something is wrong. Common sense??? or am I wrong,
would be interested in any data anyone can provide.

Please bear in mind that any information or data that involves the
taking of pain killers or any kind of medication is out for my
husband as this is strictly forbidden.

Look forward to hearing from you again.

Hi,
a few years ago I was in a bike wreck and amoung other things was
run over by the car....and for quite some time I had NO function in
my right leg (initially both legs)...but...like your husband I had
pain....the docs said I'd never walk again or if I did it would be
with braces to hold my feet and crutches or canes...well let me tell
you the doctors don't know all they think they do....while it may
take quite some time for your husband to "rewire" these circuits
and "reprogram" the cpu to handle the new wiring it can be done...be
patient and never give up...one thing to note...lots of times neural
failure can be due to a nerve being inflamed...asprin or other
anti-inflamitories can work wonders.

Thanks for your comments Frank. Can't agree with you more about
revitalisation of those paralysed parts in certain circumstances,
but unfortunately the paralysis is due to Cerebral Palsy since birth
and the movement he has got is the maximum that can be achieved
after years of mind control therapy. The right and left side can only
work in conjunction.

Any form of Asprin is out for him as he has had ulcers although we
both totally agree that this does ease the pain. He was prescribed
morphine for years, but very sensibly took it only when he was in
very bad pain. He never became addicted to it, as he was using it
only when the pain was too great. In fact he is not allowed any
pain relieving drugs, only the very occasional, paracetamol.

It is a worry sometimes, because he hurts so much , and gets very
little sleep and then very easily becomes depressed about everything.
Even massage is too painful for him to bear, so I feel at a real
loss at how to help him sometimes. It seems to be a mad circle.!!
Hope to speak again soon.

Sheila would you like to download a text file explaining the resons why
addiction had no part of this morphine therapy,if so let me know and I can
set it up for file request thru the NETWORK or you can call my BBS and the
file can be taken that way!!!
This is an article in the Journal of Medicine by Dr.Ronald Melzack and I
have found it to be the best pain therapy around & it took me 15 years too
find one anyone interested in MS-Contin therapy morphine let me know I got
it finally into computer text that can be xfered around the world.
P.S morphine is not addictive if taken for pain nor is any other narcotic.
This includes Pot hash etc etc etc.
