i Walt: I certainly agree that today residential schools are not what
they were when you and I attended. I think it is a combination of
factors. First, there are vast differences in the teachers today.
They don't seem as involved as those in the past were. Second, maybe
it's the pressures of one time thinking of closing and other times
thinking that things are ok. That rollercoaster ride gets rather
tiresome afterr while. Guess my greatest regret regarding blind
education is that in the mainstream, few girls have the opportunity
to be cheer leaders, fewer still boys or girls have the chance to
participate in the band, and as for athletics, forget it. I'm not
sure my family could have afforded to send me to college had it not
been for that wrestling schollarship. Anyway, the tide seems to be
rolling in the other direction, and I doubt anyone can change it at
this present time. Take care, and keep a seat for me on that front porch.
