Index Number: 15187 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] Your points were well taken and well put. If it is the synthesisor that she is unhappy with there are a lot of choices, and I would add to your message that I have used the Audaptor many times, and I would rather use an Echo G.P. than listen to an audaptor again. That has to be one of the most over priced synthesisors I have ever used. If it is just the Artic software that she is not happy with then I would suggest that she buy the Sonix2 package to use with her Artic card and then she can run other speech software on the Artic card. There are a lot of good speech software packages out there. Some like one kind and some like another kind, and all have their own reasons for liking what they are using. Vocal-eyes and Jaws are both tough to beat, but Jaws has done themselves a big disfavor by releasing a bug ridden software in the new version and then taking forever to clean up the bugs. I just talked to Henter-Joyce today and they admitted to me that the only version that they really have in good working condition at this time is the Dectalk version. That is kind of sad considering how many months the new version has supposedly been released. Even their demos of version 2.08 have some very serious bugs that would be easily found by even a beginner computer user. ASAP looks like it is going to be a pretty good speech software, but there are still a quite a few things that need refinement. It really isn't up to contending with other speech software packages that have been around a lot longer, but it looks like he may be on th e right track at least.' D.
