I just wonder,
Where did the Federation get all this money to buy all of this
equipment?
Also, will all of this equipment be available to the blind public to
use.
If this is an organization for the blind and of the blind, then The
equipment should be available to anyone who can come to visit and use the
equipment.
Thanks.

Much of the equipment in the National Braille and Technology Center was donated.

Some equipment was purchased with funds raised from our members and
from general fund-raising cmapaigns. As to who can use the Center,
how much and for what purposes, I can't make an authoratative
statement as I have not started the job yet. I would think that
anyone could visit the Center, talk to us, and see the equipment.
As for long-term use, there are likely to be some requirements. We
for example wouldn't let in ACB members to print anti NFB
literature on our equipment. Yes, that is a silly example, but you
get the idea. David Andrews

As I said to Mary, I intend to try every speech package I can get
my hands on before making a final decision. I am coming out of the
Dark Ages, and I don't want to make a hasty decision in wonderment.
I will happily comment as I try things?

Vert seemed to have a lot of configuration options, though its help
screens seemed sparse. KeyNote Gold/MasterTouch worked well, but
not have such things as a configurable dictionary (though their
help screens were truly wonderful). But I can't afford to spend as
much as would be required by KeyNote Gold.

Take care.
