 LM> I'm helping a friend with a research article and I'd appreciate
LM> responses from anybody out there. The question is this: What
LM> are the strangest, commonest, dumbest, oddest questions any
LM> blind people here have ever been asked by the sighted public?

I was once giving a speech to a Lions Club, and I was in the Men's Room,
standing at the Urinal, "doing what you do when you stand at a urinal" when a
Lion came up to me and asked if he could give me a hand!.

Once I was asked if I was "blind enough to see"--(And I still don't
know what the questioner meant.)

I was also chastized severely one day by a passenger on the bus who
said that she was tired of watching me put everything up to my face.
She said that I looked like a reasonable person and surely I could go
to the doctor and get some glasses. She said that she had been
observing me for YEARS and finally figured that she had to say
something.

BTW would love to see the results of the study. WIll you make it
available?

David,
This happened to me once too, and my reply was, "Yes, I know it is
magnificent, but it certainly doesn't warrant applause!"
Of course, my admirer wasn't a lion as was yours, but had it been, I
would have said, "Keep your paws off of me!"
