Wally Brown!!!!

WB> I am in the process of getting a used tv without a picture
WB> screen, so that I can get a programme called Voice Print, which
WB> is available only on tv. this is a reading from newspapers,
WB> magazines, etc, to keep the blind and visually impaired up to
WB> date on news items. I do not plan on using it for programmes,
WB> as I have too much to occupy my time as it is.

I am sorry, but this statement gets to me, it really does. Now, I am the first
to admit that I turn off Ludwig's screen when I am using him by myself, but I
wouldn't dream of buying a computer without a monitor or a tv without a
picture. If you want a radio then buy a radio. If you want a tv, then buy a
tv, don't short change yourself, Wally. If you buy the tv without the picture
tube the guy who sells it to you is going to assume that everybody who is
blind wants tb's without picture tubes.

Your attitude reminds me of a girl I knew once in college. She was totally
blind. She went to her classes, but she sat in her room the rest of the time
with the curtains pulled and the lights off!!! Now, I am the first to admit
that I forget to turn on the lights in my house, but I forget!! I do not
willingly do so. We live in a sighted world and we should be expected to act
like it. Tell your so-called interested seller to go fly a kite. Get a radio
or get a tv, not a crippled machine. Besides bad picture tubes might cause
fires, shorts and so on.

Also, you say you live alone, fine, but you may have sighted guests. Don't
they deserve a picture? Make it black-and-white if you want to do so, but
have a picture.

In addition, if you mean that you are going to buy a special receiver for the
cable programs, then that is what you mean, not a tv without a picture. If you
say that it is a special receiver, that's a far cry from saying that it is a
tv without a picture screen. I don't know if you'll understand the difference
here, but it's an important one, Wally. <smiling>

Sorry for being so vehement, but for heaven's sake!!!!!!!

Ann P.
