ARTS is a leader in reader technology; we are one of Arkenston's
premier dealers. We can provide you with the Arkenstone Reader,
accompanying computer and your preferred application software, and
access products (voice and large print output).

ARTS is the developer of PC BRAILLE--the celebrated braille
translation and format program. The accessory software PC SIFT and
WP SIFT let you transcribe text files or WordPerfect files directly
into braille. PC SIFT is ideal for transcribing Computerized Books
disks into braille; the format of the text is automatically
maintained; in particular, line breaks, paragraphs, indents,
hanging indents, and so forth are maintained. WP SIFT lets you go
directly from WordPerfect 5.0 and 5.1 files immediately into
braille; the document format is automatically maintained; in
particular, line breaks, paragraphs, centered lines, indents,
hanging indents, outlines, page breaks, and even Table of Contents
are automatically generated.

ARTS has a braille transcription service. Text files and
WordPerfect 5.0 and 5.1 files are: converted, translated and
formatted, and embossed. The charge is 25 cents per kilobyte (1024
characters); the DOS command

dir filename

gives you the size of the file in bytes. Divide this number by
1024 to obtain the number of kilobytes in the file. If there is a
fraction, round up to the next kilobyte.

The braille manuscript is punched and bound at an additional charge
of $2.50. If the file is in a file format other than text (ASCII)
or WordPerfect 5.0 and 5.1, there is a $10 conversion charge.

Brochures on disk, in large print, and in braille are available
free of charge. If you have any questions, feel free to call us on
our tool-free phone line:
