Index Number: 15526 TACTILE GRAPHICS GRANT FOR TEACHERS OF BLIND CHILDREN Mountain View, CA -- Teachers can create raised dot tactile graphic pictures for their blind students with an Apple IIe or IIgs computer, LORIN Software's Illustrations program and a VersaPoint braille embosser. To create a tactile graphic, first you draw a picture using an Apple mouse, then use Illustrations to send the picture to the VersaPoint braille embosser. With this fast and simple method, teachers can produce their own tactile graphics. TeleSensory and LORIN Software are offering a grant for the 1991- 1992 school year designed to measure effectiveness and increase awareness of tactile graphics in educating blind students in grades K-12. The grantee will receive the Illustrations program plus the entire LORIN Software graphic collection (Braille Readiness ABC's, Braille Readiness 123's, Coloring Shapes and Braille Font). the recipient will also receive a VersaPoint braille embosser to use for the duration of the grant. Teachers who have blind student who need access to frequent and easily produced tactile graphics and have an Apple IIe or IIgs computer should call TeleSensory for a grant application.
