DANIDA

To help te more than 180 million persons who are hearing
impaired, most of whom live in developping countries
DANHEARING HOBRO A/S has developped  low cost universally
applicable hearing aids which is designed to withstand
the varied and rigorous climatic conditions experienced
in developmenting nations. Recognizing the great need
of such devices DANIDA, Denmark's department for
International Development Co-operation has provided
2.9 million Danish Krone to help distribute these
hearing aids through a project in Kenya.

INDEPENDENT LIVING

The Independent Living Center movement continues to
expand and gain momentum. On January 30, 1991, the
Board of Management for the Port of Spain Independent
Living Centre in Port-of-Spain Trinidad, was
inaugerated. Present services being offered are:
Peer support through volunteers; Vocational training
and employment placement: Information and referral;
and the development of an adaptive bus service in
Port-of-Spain in the surrounding areas.
