Index Number: 15675 [This is from the Blink Talk Conference] I'm about to braille menus for the upcoming NFB convention in New Orleans.Let me hear your pet peeves/preferences about menus. I usually use an outline format so that the reader can scan quickly from section to section. I also place information about a group of items at the beginning rather than at the end of a listing--i.e. "Served with salad, baked potato and a roll" Do readers prefer plastic or paper? (I, myeslf, detest reading thermoform.) Does anyone want to see the menus before the convention? I'd be glad to supply ASCII textfiles. I will be working on menus from Trey Yuen, La Riviera, The Gumbo Shop, Ralph and Kacoo's, Olivier's, La Madelein, Massons, Liuzzas, The Napoleon House and (hold on to your pocketbook) Brennan's. And you folks who live/have lived in the Crescent City--care to give any reviews? -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!3800!6!Warren.Figueiredo Internet: Warren.Figueiredo@f6.n3800.z1.fidonet.org

Most of what you described for the menus sounded fine, outline form, placing boillerplate text at beginnings of sections etc. In general I agree with you that thermoform is not fun reading, but for menus, I think it is better. Menus during convention week lead a hard life, and plastic will hold up better. further, if something gets on them, they can be whiped off. WF> WF> Does anyone want to see the menus before the convention? I'd be WF> glad to supply ASCII textfiles. I would like to get the text files if possible. I would like to have them for NFB Net, the NFB bulletinboard, which should be up soon. ...
