D.E.A.F Network Comes Into Existence!

On October 26, 1990, D.E.A.F. Network held its first meeting. At
least 75 people attended the meeting.

During the assembly, Steve Nover introduced the concept of
establishing a consortium of Deaf and hearing people focusing on Deaf
Community Issues. Deaf Empowerment Advocacy Focus was officially born

The Deaf Community Learns About Itself

On November 1, 1990, D.E.A.F held its second assembly attended by
over 200 Deaf people, parents of deaf children, professionals serving
the deaf and deaf supporters.

During the meeting, Dr. Sam Supalla presented a lecture on Deaf
History that was well received. It proved to be highly informative

responded with surprise, shock, laughter, despair, and re lief as Dr.
Supalla unfolded aspects and motives behind events in Deaf History.
