Index Number: 15782 [This is from the Spinal Injury Conference] Ok, my wife is bugging me to look into a scooter for trips. After a couple of hours, she ends up pushing up the hills. But how well do scooters work with curbs, and no cuts, up a step or two, and the like for a paraplegic. Tshey are probable great when all is ramped or cut, but what about those fun areas we all travel to? Well John, I have a Fortress 200, it will take any step up to 3" without any problem, "but all the Fun places that we travel to", well, I suppose keeping a Towrope on the machine just in case, I have the large batteries on my Machine and can go 30 miles without recharging, it does take quite a few steep inclines, such as Underground Garages Ramps, so, I don't know what to tell you, but found from experience and by talking to other users of different machines, the Fortress 200 or the Fortress XL are considered the Cadillacs of the Scooter family, at least here. Hope it helped you, but your best bet is to make sure that you have the large batteries on the machine, the samll ones will only take you about 10 miles and then poop out on you. Cheers.
