Index Number: 15802 Hello....I am a new person here...I am a Special Education Technologist for my local School District and work with computers and assistive devices for all the disabled in the district, including communication devicies. I was interested in the "sticky Keys" issue I saw here. I have been using a program called FILCH, that works well, can asses the user's needs and controls a host of things from key repeating to the "sticky Keys" idea. It is of interest to me that IBM and compatibles have not built this in as it has been in the Macintosh and Apple IIgs. They just need to be invoked including Mouse Keys for using a mouse. I also find there is a great use for Macintosh for the visually impaired through the use of OUTSPOKEN, that reads ALL of a screen, and as you know the Mac is graphics based! You can also use INTOUCH with Opticon II and for the people with useful vision, enLARGE is available too. I would be interested in hearing more of what is being done in the work place so that I can help the staff develope a more meaningful program. I have planned to order a talking lap-top for a student (blind) to use. I have them already in use by the physically handicapped. I still think work can be done to help the blind user with a graphical interface. It has been done with the Mac and now needs to be done for IBM. I hope to hear from some of you and If I can be of help, let me know!
