Liz, I am sorry I have not gotten back to you. Had problems with my
computer and then moved from Phoenix to Cleveland. Then I had to find
this echo and that took time. Don't know if its too late to help or not.
For what its worth, the procedure is a fairly simple one. Morphine is
injected into the trouble spots. It is relatively painless and takes
less than a minute. For me the injections did not help my pain at all.
One very serious side effect, however, was that it shut my bowels and
bladder down. Had terrible bladder spasms and could not go. I was up all
night self-cathing to stay out of pain. Fortunately this problem
subsided in about 24 hours. I had a neurosurgeon schedule the
injections. I don't know who did them. I was never forewarned about the
bowel and bladder complications. But this doctor was not a specialist
in the problems of spinal cord injury. I have learned the hard way to
make sure you get a doctor knowledgeable in spinal cord pathology before
you have any spinal cord injury-related procedure done. Sorry again for
the late reply. Let me know what happened or did not happen.

                                                   -Keith-
